Hello! It's everyone's least favourite administrator here, Evita. I'm proposing the idea of a 'helper' program and I will be running it,in the near future, as the wiki grows and when we actually have a discord server.
What is a helper program, you ask?
Well it's a group of active and responsible wiki users along with certain staff members(with ranks of content moderator and above) who implement new features onto the wiki. Ultimately, these members discuss and propose new and salient changes to the wiki and they vote unanimously, acting as a council for our wiki.
How do I become a helper?
An administrator will nominate you for the position, following this you and one or two others will be voted on for the helper position. Whoever has the most votes will receive the position, obviously. Administrators identify a possible future helper by searching for the people who are constantly making exceptional suggestions to improve the wiki on discussion posts(categorized under wiki discussion).
Advantages to becoming a helper
- One can immediately skip to becoming a content moderator(and with exceptions, administrator), after being a helper.
- A helper tag appearing besides the user's name
- Red CSS
Why do you need helpers?
We require helpers because we can't always depend on our wiki staff members to be active and often make decisions. Instead, we rely on the community to decide when they aren't around, providing a better connection between staff and regular users. By bringing in helpers on our decisions, they act as ambassadors for the general public's opinions which I believe will further improve our wiki. It also prompts a sense of trust between wiki staff and the public as we get a better view of their personalities. Certainly, these elected members do not define the entire population of the wiki lacking in user rights, but it provides us with a better idea.
Where do helpers meet?
On a locked channel of the discord server, if you do not have a discord account you are still eligible to become a helper and we will find another way to establish contact with you.
How many helpers are there?
We would like to keep our maximum at 8, but we would prefer 5 as we would want to avoid managing that many people and ensuring most of the people are online for meetings.
Will I always be a helper?
Helpers hold a temporary position of 6 months as the total amount of helpers we would like to have is 8, no exceptions. If you are a helper or a former helper and you are promoted to content moderator or above, you can apply to be one of the staff members on the council. This will allow you to be a permanent helper.
