Background/Bio[]

Background[]

His background isn't entirely certain, but the well-known version would be The Troll-Face meme back in 2011. It was since forgotten in 2015-2016 and was hated for little reason during the 2016 era.

The Original[]

The original Tomface drawing dates back as far as 2008 and was designed by a college student named Carlos Ramirez. Around 2012, Tomface's popularity as a rage comic character peaked. The Tomface character is always depicted as mischievous, scheming, teasing, pranking, "toming" others.

A particular variety of Tomface memes were the tom-science comics (popular around 2012). These are rage comics where the Tomface explains step by step how to achieve physically and practically impossible (and often absurd) goals. For instance, in one such comic, the Tomface records a video of light and plays it on double speed, thereby supposedly creating something faster than the speed of light, which is normally physically impossible. Another classic image shows the Tomface moving in a car that is propelled by the power of two magnets perpetually attracting each other by the poles.

After their peak popularity, Tomface (and rage comic) memes were mostly forgotten and unused between 2014 and 2019 (although they did see minor resurgence in the form of ironic, knockoff Tomfaces such as the "coaxed into a tubbo" face). However, in 2020, the Tomface meme resurfaced, initially in the form of the "cover yourself in oil" meme. This was initially a tom-science style comic involving Troll-Face covering himself in oil in order to fly (water floats on oil, so a person covered on oil could supposedly float in the sky when it is raining). Contrary to popular belief, this tom-science comic was only created in February 2020, nearly eight years after the initial popularity of "tom-science" comics.

The Trollge Incidents (2020-Now)[]

On July 1, 2020, the original trollge image is posted on Ifunny, believe is the earliest found trollge image posted before not called trollge in July 2020.

On November 17th, 2020, Redditor unfunny_man123 started posting countdown videos about the upcoming arrival of an entity named "Trollge." The videos depict the distorted version of Trollface and contains a message warning the viewer, similar to the original Random Chimp Event posts.

Between November 17th and 20th, unfunny_man123 posted a total of five videos in which they counted down five days remaining until the arrival of "Trollge." On November 21st, 2020, unfunny_man123 posted the final video "documenting" the arrival of the entity.

On December 16th, 2020, iFunny user MilkJugMan posted the first derivative meme utilizing the format, referencing an "Aurora Woods" incident predicted to happen in August 2021. The post received 130 smiles and, similar to the "Heaven Stairway" incident, spawned a series of memes specifically about the predicted event.

These events often included Troll-Face (the usual main character) following a set of steps similar to the "tom-science" series before committing several crimes, potential self-harm and/or suicide or even mutating himself to become a larger threat to society. These often concluded with a "[insert date here] - The [insert reference here] Incident", attempting to describe an actual event that occurred. Of course, most of these made between 2020 and the current year are entirely fictional. However, in the past, these Trollge comics allegedly did describe actual events that took place, almost serving as a reminder rather than entertaining yet fictional comics on popular sites/threads.
