Origins & Backstory[]
Long ago, in the shadowed halls of Blackthorne Manor, Lady Evelyne Ravenshade was set to marry Lord Alistair Whitmore, a nobleman of great wealth but darker desires. Evelyne, a kind-hearted but lonely young woman, had been betrothed to him since childhood. The wedding was meant to be the grandest event the town had seen, but on the eve of their union, Evelyne discovered the horrifying truth—Alistair had murdered his previous wives, each vanishing without a trace.
Terrified, she attempted to flee, but Alistair caught her in the manor's rose garden. Under the pale moon, he swore that if she would not be his bride in life, she would be in death. He drove a silver dagger through her heart, whispering his vows as she bled onto the petals. Her body was hidden beneath the chapel where their wedding was meant to take place.
Yet death was not the end for Evelyne. On every anniversary of her doomed wedding, her spirit rises, veiled in sorrow and rage. She wanders the corridors of Blackthorne Manor, waiting for a groom who will never come, luring the wicked to their demise and warning the innocent of love’s cruel deceits.
Appearance[]
Evelyne is an ethereal vision of a bride frozen in her final, tragic moment. Her tattered wedding gown drapes over her skeletal frame, the once-pristine lace now stained with spectral blood. A delicate veil covers her hollow face, but through its lace, glimpses of her glowing, sunken eyes can be seen. Her lips, sewn shut by ghostly threads, tremble as if whispering the vows she never got to speak.
When enraged, her form distorts, her veil lifting to reveal a horrific visage—jagged teeth in a lipless mouth, blackened tears dripping from empty sockets. The bouquet in her hands withers into dead roses, thorns dripping with spectral ichor.
Personality[]
Evelyne is a tragic figure, her soul bound by sorrow and betrayal. She harbors deep resentment for those who deceive in love, punishing unfaithful lovers and manipulative suitors. However, she also holds a gentler side, appearing to warn those with kind hearts of looming heartbreaks.
She despises liars and oathbreakers but is strangely drawn to those who suffer loneliness, feeling kinship with the abandoned and unloved.
