I have a weird passion for video games, so much so, that I really wanna be in one. The things that video games give that leave me stunned is not the gameplay, but rather the characters, they really make me think about possessing them. But my lust for video games has ended ever since this story occurred. This is that story.
25/12/1995[]
It was Christmas time, my brother got a blue scooter that was electric, my other brother got a colouring book and my sister got dolls that she wanted ever since November. But I, got a game cartridge for the game, "Super Metroid", I had also gotten a SNES with the game as well. Although I was very sceptical to play it, my mom warned me, since it look 'violent' and scary, due to the scary atmosphere of the box art. I frowned and put the game up.
We all watched Home Alone together, I was still looking up at the game, wanting to desperately play it.
It was midnight, all of my parents and siblings were asleep, the way I stayed awake was put almost all of my VHS movie tapes in the TV inside of my room. But since everyone was asleep, I was able to play Super Metroid. I tip toed out of my room as quietly as possible, carefully grabbed the cartridge and placed it in the SNES. I firmly grabbed the controlled and waited.
The opening was present, the beautiful blue color, the speech, but the only thing that was strange, was the fact that there was no music and the title said, "Super Metroid Reboot", I raised my eyebrow in confusion, a reboot? Didn't the game just come out a year ago? It's too early to have one.
Ignoring all of that ruckus, I pressed start on the controller.
The game was different, nothing looked the same, all I saw was Samus walking across the screen holding her Blaster, probably preparing for an enemy to strike. I was really confused this time, this wasn't what it was intended to be like, but yet again, it was a reboot.
Then, out of nowhere, Ridley appears as he breaks a wall made of steel. Samus aims the blaster at Ridley in fear, I was in fear too, he was very big, more bigger than he was intended to be. He looked more red-ish, he had pitch black eye sockets with nothing in them and was a little more bigger. As I tried to respond to the scenario, Ridley uses his sharp tail to pierce through Samus' helmet and rip it clean off. I was shocked. Ridley held Samus' head as it dripped blood. Ridley's eyes then came back and started to droop out of their sockets. I ran to the SNES, snatched the cartridge and threw it into my box with toys in it. I went back to sleep and never spoke about it again, until now.
Although that was years ago, I am still a bit traumatised by it, but I wanted to try and test out the game again. So I dug through the box that I still had to this day, and I saw it, the game cartridge. I ran and grabbed my SNES that was next to my Wii and connected it to the TV, I placed the cartridge in it and played.
