January 11, 2021. The hard drive was a gift from my friend, who coincidentally worked at Nintendo. They said that a bunch of employees forming a group were part of the development team for Soni-X, a.k.a. Sonic Plus. It was supposed to have an AI which recorded the user's preferences on games, determining if they wanted a mature or childish game. From the shit I've seen, it didn't work. About the puppet, it was a Secret Santa from my neighbor next-door. I eavesdropped on it at the local High School when going to class. About the Soni-X game, I decided to play through it completely. I got past all 7 levels, and it wasn't until after I beat the levels and got a Golden Ring award that I noticed the Chaos Emerald awards. It piqued my interest at the time, so I tried my absolute darndest at the levels. After 2 flawed attempts at the levels, I eventually got all of the emeralds and unlocked a secret level which sparked a bad sense of nostalgia.
"ACT SC-0: SANGUINE SPEEDWAY". I connected the dots from there and figured that Sanguine Sanctuary had possibly been testing grounds for the mechanics in Sanguine Speedway. Once the level loads in, a cutscene plays, showing Robotnik hopping onto a pair of large mechanical legs, with Sonic sliding across the floor and looking up at Eggman. "Nice try, dickhead! Can't run from what's already here." Sonic says, waving their finger. A heavily remixed version of Stardust Speedway's theme, sounding much like a boss fight theme plays. I hold down the right arrow key, as Eggman blazes past Sonic. I keep an eye out for any obstacles, hitting ramps and collecting the Hidden Rings. I notice that the hills are red, much similar to the hills in Sanguine Sanctuary. As well as the metallic racetrack being colored rose-red, with multiple red snapper-bot obstacles, there are also sand-bags and ruined wooden structures, much similar to Sanguine Sanctuary. Maybe I was right...?
I complete the level after multiple hours of running and dodging Sonic's spin-dash attacks. Upon getting to the end, Sonic dashes at Eggman. They dodge, sending Sonic tumbling into an artificial Alter for the emeralds, which contains six of them. Eggman runs into the room, but Sonic emerges as Fleetway's recreation of Super Sonic. You have to fight him using Badniks and Death-Egg Cannons, shooting the Emeralds away if possible. To shoot away the emeralds, Fleetway has to be flipped over mid-air, causing them to struggle to get back onto their feet. After this, I unlocked the 5 Secret Stages, but decided not to play them. I re-open the old file through the Windows search bar, starting up the game again. Sonic's glitchy face returns on-screen, bringing back memories for the worse. It looks at me, flashing a grin. " Back again? Shocking... I thought you would never return! " The creature utters, morphing into a jester-like being for a split second. The screen goes black, cutting to Sanguine Sanctuary.
I blaze through the level, doing my hardest not to abandon the computer in fear of Robotnik dying. When I get to tails, and Robotnik kills them, I immediately hold down the right arrow key. Robotnik runs past Tails, being forced to avoid more obstacles. Baffled on how there was more to this "level", I continue, ready to face the worst. Being focused on the running, I barely notice Sonic on screen for a split second, in front of Eggman. " You sure are braver this time around. Let's see if you can prove your worth. " The voice, strangely feminine, says smugly. At the end of the level, evident from the bar showing progress, Soni-X appears again, its mouth appearing blood-stained. Soni-X flashes a grin, with rose-pink rings appearing as its eyes. Suddenly, 3 skeleton hands emerge from the ground, whipping at Eggman. He reloads, taking two shots at each of the hands, breaking them off.
A boss fight ensues afterwards. Mid-way through it, a TTS voice begins blasting "VIEWING OF THIS TAPE IS LISCENED TO SEGA ENTERPRISES EMPLOYEES ONLY." over and over again, until the boss fight is done. I take aim at Sonic, pumping their body full of lead with the cursor. Over a course of 5 hours, Eggman starts to decay and die of starvation, eventually turning them into a withered skeleton. The game crashes with a loud screeching sound, and my computer was tampered with quite a bit afterwards. I checked it earlier today and found multiple pieces of gore in all of the image folders on my computer. I emptied all of the gore out of my computer afterwards. Puppeteer pipes up: " You've passed the trials. You don't have a hard drive, do you? " Thankfully, I did have a hard drive.
I end up trashing the old computer, getting rid of the Puppeteer Virus for what I believe is for good. I got a new computer, booted it up, and loaded in the hard drive with all of my old items and files, without the 4 + 1 sonic files. All is well, and I got a crazy-ass story to tell around the bonfire if me and the boys hung around.
