Origin[]
I am the Ghost of the Asylum. Every Halloween, people, usually teenagers, come to the haunted asylum to prove their bravery. I keep them out. They’re scared of me. I want them to be. They have to be scared of me, otherwise they’ll go deeper into the black depths of this place. They’ll find The Thing and it will destroy everything humankind holds dear. I can’t let them in. I can’t let them in. I can’t let them in.
I wasn’t always mad, you know. I lived a normal life once, just like you. And just you brave, foolish explorers, I came to this asylum on a dare. It was supposedly haunted before me, but I’ve never seen another soul. Perhaps the evil feel of The Thing gave it that rumor. It’s been here all along. It’s the source of the evil within these walls, even when the asylum was active.
I don’t have much time to talk to you, but while you’re here, listen to the story of a foolish girl who thought she was stronger then The Thing.
It was autumn. Toward Halloween, as cliche as that is. I had been dared by my friends to enter the old insane asylum in the woods and stay the night. And like a fool, I went. Nothing happened for hours: I stayed on the upper floor, as far away from the basement as possible. Something about it felt wrong.
And then it came for me. The Thing. And I ran. I ran like Satan himself was chasing me. Down, down the stairs. Down and down and down and down. They were endless. They never stopped. They never ever stopped. And I saw The Thing every second I closed my eyes. I saw it even when I ripped out my own eyes.
The stairs never stopped. Then the insects began to crawl on my arms. They wouldn’t leave. I scratched and I tore, but they were still there. So was The Thing. It was always watching, always pursuing.
I found an old rope on the stairs. I hung myself. But even in death I was still trapped here. I will always be trapped here. It is the fate of those who wake The Thing. Why it didn’t leave the asylum then, I do not know. Perhaps it took too much enjoyment in tormenting me to leave.
I am the guardian. While I am here, The Thing will never be awoken again. I will not let anyone suffer the fate I did or let humankind be destroyed.
You are brave, traveler. They never let me talk. They always run away in fear. However, the time has come when you too, must run. The Thing is stirring.
Appearance[]
Human: Quinn was a pretty girl when she lived, with long, chestnut brown hair, and bright blue eyes. She had pale skin with a dusting of freckles across her nose. She was short, about 5’4, and slender. She’d been wearing a long, white sundress when she was killed, hence the reason she wears one as a ghost.
Ghost: Quinn has been transformed into a terrifying spirit. Her long, messy brown hair hangs down, hiding her pale face and her gouged out eyes. Her white dress is tattered and covered in blood; her arms covered with thousands of scratches. Quinn’s nails are very long, and also bloody.
Personality[]
Human: Quinn was a bright, cheerful girl, who loved to laugh. She was very bold and quite naive, a dangerous combination.
Ghost: Driven mostly insane by The Thing, Quinn now uses what little sanity she has left to scare explorers out of the asylum, so they will not wake The Thing and suffer the same fate she did. This sanity was regained when she died, although The Thing does not know of this. Ghost Quinn has no real personality; she thinks of nothing but leaving the asylum, and scaring away explorers. She retains a deep and terrible fear of The Thing.
Powers and Abilities[]
Quinn, like most powerful spirits, is able to push, lift, and throw solid objects. She can also make physical contact with solid objects, and scratch or push them. This is another one of her tactics to frighten off explorers who come to see the abandoned asylum. She is able to communicate through whispers and screams, and does not need to talk through an Ouija Board. Quinn is able to turn her blood into the liquid state it once was for a few seconds, just enough to drop blood onto the explorers to frighten them. If all else fails, she will gather all of her strength and make herself visible to them. This, however, takes an incredible amount of energy and she is unable to hold it for long. She will then return to her normal form of pure energy, and will be unable to take a corporeal form for a while afterward.
