Mikael can be described as blandly handsome, and can be quite forgettable in a crowd. He stands at around 6'5ft tall and has a sickly lean build that he compensates for by wearing thick, heavy suits- which he also believes give him an air of authority. He cares highly about his appearance and will shave and clean himself when possible.
He has rather flat hazel eyes, and short, dark brown hair that is occasionally brushed back in a simple slickback.
His arms and hands are covered in sores and scars due to excessive picking, which he is self-conscious of and will try to cover them up by wearing long sleeves and a pair of elk hide gloves, which may only be exacerbating the problem.

Mikael can appear winsome, warm and very polite, but this façade will break down with the more time spent with him, where he may; noticeably fake his emotions, not be sympathetic in situations where he should be, or become downright cold and aggressive out of nowhere. He has certain nervous habits that may show through, such at itching or picking at his skin or grinding his teeth.
He's quite arrogant, and has high and sometimes unrealistic standards for others and is dismissive towards people who don't meet them, however this can also be directed towards himself and he can become self-loathing, which he may take out on himself and others around him. He can become obsessed with certain people due to this, believing them to be wholly perfect and is disgusted when they inevitably reveal they aren't.
He is manipulative and can't quite empathise with others as he considers his own wants and needs overrule everyone else's, even people who he genuinely cares for. He can be quite miserable to be around, as he tends to wallow instead of attempting to address his own issues, and may blame others for his misfortune- even if he was wholly the reason for it.
Due to the negative symptoms of prodomal psychosis and his addiction to anti-depressants he has a blunt affect, which he tries to counteract by acting out or forcing emotion into his voice and expression. This is generally effective, however he may over or undercompensate and come off as uncanny and off-putting.

- Body Focused Repetitive Behaviour (BFRB):
Repetitive self grooming behaviours such as pulling, scratching or chewing of the hair, nails or skin that is compulsive and can be a response to stress or anxiety. Mikael has Exorcation (skin picking) and Dermatophagia (skin biting/chewing) that is mostly focused around his hands and arms, and as a result his skin in those areas is often scabby and infected.
- Cibophobia:
Immense anxiety about food that has the potential to hurt or make one ill, to the point where it can cause intense panic attacks when one is presented with the feared food. Mikael is particularly fearful around foods that may cause him to throw up and will refuse to eat food that he hasn’t seen prepared.
- Formal Thought Disorder:
A disturbance in the form of thought; disruption in the flow of ideas or speech, and/or inability to follow the normal semantics and syntax rules in someone with the adequate education and intelligence to do so. This can lead to odd or incoherent statements and thinking.
- Prodromal Psychosis:
The stage prior to acute psychosis, with mostly negative symptoms. These can include; social withdrawal, heightened sensitivity to sensation, mood swings, anxiety/suspiciousness, confusion, and feelings of depersonalisation and derealisation. This stage can last from six months to a few years.
- Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI):
A disruption into the normal brain caused by physical injury. It can induce both mild and serious physical, sensory and cognitive or behavioural symptoms. Mikael's TBI is a brain contusion to the cerebellum and frontal lobe, which causes symptoms such as; migraines and nausea, mood swings and behavioural changes, impulsivity, changes in taste and smell, and memory and concentration problems.
