Kessler's Division is a private scientific sect owned exclusively by Dr Michael Kessler, former head researcher of Paranormal Termination Consortium (PTC). His ambition, shared by his loyal followers, is to contain, catalogue and research paranormal and anomalous objects, creatures, humans, structures and places. His aim is to fully contain these potential anomalous threats by any means necessary.
He often works alongside other similar organisations such as The Hunterian Institute and Anomaly Control Unit, and would often engage with "trades" if Kessler happened upon a surplus of anomalous items, selling such items off to the highest bidder or using his funds to purchase items off of these organisations for his own private collection. The Division will often collaborate with these organisations, as Kessler will utilise his unconventional and often dangerous methods of obtaining anomalous artifacts and creatures.
Background[]
Dr Michael Kessler Profile Image
Not much is known about Dr Michael Kessler's past, other than he was born in Ohio around the 1970s and had graduated with outstanding accolades in all scientific fields, however his distant and cold personality mixed with questionable views and theories led to many scientific groups ridiculing him. He was laughed out of many colleges and other such establishments when he would ever bring up his main interest of study; the "paranormal".
Eventually, he would land a job as a lead researcher at the Paranormal Termination Consortium (PTC), a shadow organisation determined to contain and research paranormal creatures, working alongside such organisations such as The Hunterian Institute and The Sentinels of Pandora. These organisations aimed to catalogue the bizarre and supernatural entities and objects that reside right under the public's knowledge, and Kessler excelled in his research.
However, one fateful day, while researching his latest subject, a sample of "black blood" from the allusive cryptid known to the organisation as "The Tall Man", an explosion occurred within the laboratory. Whether the explosion was an accident or the work of espionage or foul play is still unknown, but it resulted in the disappearance of Kessler.
His remains were soon discovered later on that day, as a pool of black semi-liquid substance on the floor of his lab. He was declared deceased, and the substance was carefully disposed of in a sealed chemical vat.
Kessler, however, was not dead. Merely transformed by the catalyst of coming into physical contact with the blood specimen somehow merged by the fiery explosion that destroyed his human body. When the chemical vat was dumped at a nearby sewage plant for cheap and "efficient" disposal, Kessler managed to escape his prison and drifted away in a nearby stream.
Eventually he was discovered by a team of scientists who were testing the pollution levels in the waters. When they came across a sentient, talking tar-like mass that had washed up onto the banks of the river, needless to say they were horrified, but soon came to the realisation of this remarkable discovered. While initially contained by the scientists for research, Kessler was eventually confiscated by the US organisation, Anomaly Control Unit (ACU), with plans of destroying Kessler for fear of him spreading the truth of anomalous artifacts and creatures and creating a world-wide panic.
Kessler, however, utilising his impressive skills of persuasion and reasoning, bargained for his return to form, as a scientist working for the organisation. In his own defence, he may be an anomaly himself now, but his mind was still his and he was dedicated to continue his research, possibly into a potential cure and moreover, containing the world's anomalies for the safety of humankind.
But Kessler had an ulterior motive. His time as a tar-like shapeless mass had made his sanity questionable. He questioned his existence, and cursed the unknown world around him for his predicament. He vowed to find a cure for himself, or use his new abilities to fully contain anomalous threats and exert control over that which cannot even begin to be understood, let alone controlled. Using himself as a research tool and a living specimen, he soon gathered a following of other eccentric scientists in the paranormal field that agreed with his philosophies of controlling the uncontrollable.
Soon, with enough funds and using an abandoned property situated in an undisclosed location in Northern America, he set up his own facility, dubbed "Kessler's Division".
He soon began work in researching, capturing and containing a vast number of objects, creatures and even places that were once thought to be unobtainable by conventional methods. This earned him the respect he thought he richly deserved among his fellow associates, and soon the Division became somewhat of an enterprise, with the growing number of anomalies collected and sold to the highest bidder in the paranormal investigation community.
As for Kessler himself, he donned a blue hazmat suit to stabilise his humanoid shape, but discovered he was so much more than a mere human. He was practically indestructible and resilient to most types of damage (apart from electricity, as that would render him unconscious for a short period) and had no need to eat, as his form was able to photosynthesise sunlight for nourishment. His body could also morph and stretch into practically any shape he required, though his body mass remained consistent.
But despite these advantages, Kessler was scared of one thing; losing what made him an outstanding scientist to begin with. Losing not only his mind, but his humanity. What if one day, the substance took control of his mind, or dissolved his willpower, and he became a violent, mindless monster, no better than the monsters that he contained in his very facility.
Despite this fear, he continued to work on his research and growing his enterprise. Under his leadership, he has currently contained 200 "Items" in his custody.

CONTAINMENT LEVELS:
- Level 1- Items are allowed to roam freely around the facility without concern of a possible breach.
- Level 2- Items that can be contained with ease and do not require strenuous containment procedures.
- Level 3- Items that require consistent monitoring as well as specific containment requirements.
