Reiko Kashima (Japanese: 鹿島玲子), sometimes known as Teke Teke depending on who's telling the legend, is a female onryō, similarly to Kuchisake-onna, originating from mid 20th century Japanese folklore.
Origin[]
The most common variation of this legend tells the story of a 17-year-old girl who hailed from Japan. Her name was Reiko Kashima. Reiko's parents were very strict and wanted her to be at the top of all of her classes in school, so she always spent her free time studying at the library until evening came.
One frosty night, Reiko was walking home from the library. She stayed out much later than usual due to all of the upcoming exams she had to study for. Slowly and sleepily, she stumbled her way through the silent street that became not-so-silent after she heard of the sound of multiple footsteps heading towards her in the opposite direction. Immediate panic set off in her head. Her first instinct was to run back to the library, so she twirled her foot around and hurried as fast as she could through the empty sidewalk. The footsteps behind her got faster as she ran. It was certain that this person - these people - were following her. Reiko struggled to keep at the same speed she was running. She could feel herself run out of breath. Her aching legs wobbled uncontrollably. Eventually, she gave in to her fatigue and lost her balance, landing headfirst onto the concrete.
A group of 5 men caught up to the young girl, who, shivering, laid helplessly in pain on the sidewalk. They did horrible things to Reiko. They laughed at, mocked, and degraded her, undressed her and made her dance naked in the freezing cold, beat her until she was bloody and bruised, raped her, and left her for dead. Reiko couldn't stand; they broke her legs. All she could do was crawl and cry as loud as she could for help, but nobody heard her. She kept crawling until she could find a place where people would recognize her. Reiko's hands were covered in open wounds and gravel. The furthest they could take her was to the nearest railroad track, where she surrendered herself to her gruesome fate by collapsing in front of an oncoming train. The train split her in halves, causing the girl to bleed out to death.
The morning after the incident, a pair of female legs were found laying in a pool of blood by the railroad track, but the upper half of the body that the legs once belonged to were nowhere to be found.
Some people say that they've seen a legless woman crawling around this railroad track at all times of day, but when they go to check on her, nobody's there. Others say that when you read the legend of Kashima Reiko, her spirit will hunt you down and appear to you within a month in a bathroom between sunset to sunrise, and all you have to do is answer these 3 questions correctly:
"Where are my legs?" The answer is, "On the Meishin Expressway."
"Who told you that?" You should reply, "Kashima Reiko told me that."
Sometimes she'll ask a trick question. "Do you know my name?" Do not answer Kashima Reiko. She will kill you. Your answer should be, "Mask Death Demon."
If you get get all of the answers right, she'll crawl away and disappear, and you'll never have to encounter her again, but if you get any wrong, she'll tear off your legs.
