"Gateway of the Mind" is a Creepypasta story that tells of a group of scientists' attempt to speak with God. They do this by depriving a local man of his five senses, believing that they interfere with the connection to Him. As time goes by, the man starts hallucinating and begins talking to "ghosts", before finally going insane from lack of stimulation. At the end of the story, he tells one of the scientists that God has abandoned them and dies.
Origin
The Creepypasta originally was posted on August 9th, 2010, on the Creepypasta Wiki. The name of the story may derive from an American educational film Gateways to the Mind, released in 1958.
Video
On July 15, 2012, YouTube user creepypaste posted a video titled "Gateway of the Mind" that had been rumored to be the man of the story of the experiment gone wrong. As of June 21, 2014, it has amassed nearly 100,000 views. The Gateway of the Mind clip that was believed to be linked to the Creepypasta actually has nothing to do with the Creepypasta, and is not the man in the original story.
The person who made the video is a French man named Oliver de Sagazan, who created the video for performance art on his website. A video of Oliver experimenting with the human form by transfiguring himself into something "hideous" with makeup and clay.
