“ | "There can be no peace in Ireland until the foreign, oppressive British presence is removed, leaving all the Irish people as a unit to control their own affairs and determine their own destinies as a sovereign body, free in mind and body, separate and distinct physically, culturally, and economically. | „ |
~ Erin Bridget Shannon (commonly attributed to Bobby Sands but she said it first.) |
“ | "Our goal is nothing less than the total retreat of British security forces and government from Ulster and the total termination of British imperialistic practices, through a combination of propaganda and physical violence aimed at disrupting British economic gains and weakening the will of their government to oppress us through sheer blood attrition." | „ |
~ Erin Bridget Shannon |
Description[]
Erin is a physically 16-year-old undead lone wolf Irish republican paramilitary operative. Although she is affiliated with the IRA, she is not a formal member since she prefers to work alone. Although she is biologically immortal as a result of being converted into an undead state akin to zombification, but unlike zombies, she still possesses all critical mental faculties.
She has fiery orange hair, though it was black before she converted, leading some to suspect that she changed her hair color to more accurately reflect her Irish heritage. Though she is based in Derry, she has carried out attacks across Northern Ireland.
Her catchphrases include "ooh ah up the RA!", "Erin go bragh," and "tiocfaidh ár lá".
Ideology[]
In her youth, Erin was a pacifist moderate Irish republican nationalist. As a result of losing her parents and forced conversion to an undead state of being, she converted to a Marxist republican orientation.
Erin was raised as a Roman Catholic, but has now become an atheist.
Backstory[]
Erin came from a devout Catholic family in Derry. She lived in an area that was predominantly Ulster Scot Protestant, and as a result her family was the subject of persecution and taunting by their neighbors. Though Erin's parents advocated Irish national republicanism, they did not support the IRA and actually condemned its violent practices. One day, however, while the family was out for a walk, a paratrooper mistakenly mistook the father for an IRA fugitive and shot him. As Erin and her mother fled, the paratrooper panicked and shot both of them, killing them both.
Erin's body was brought back to a secret laboratory in Belfast. She was brought back to life through a secret undead transformation process similar to zombieification used by British security forces. This was achieved by inserting specific bacteria into her bloodstream and metabolism. Erin had been destined to become a secret weapon against the IRA, but she managed to escape, killing two British soldiers in the process. When she escaped, she joined the IRA Women's Brigade before requesting a transfer to the South Armagh Brigade to see more action.
Having become a communist, Erin defected from the PIRA to the Irish National Liberation Army, since their ideology was more in line with hers. When the INLA declared a ceasefire, she left them, too, and became a lone wolf operator.
Abilities[]
The undead state of Erin makes her almost immune to physical trauma and critical organ failure, making it impossible to kill her except by brain trauma. Among her abilities is her ability to regenerate wounded tissue, including nerves.
Her mundane skills include marksmanship, infiltration, and ordinance improvisation.
Current Activities[]
In the 1990s and 1990s, Erin was involved in several high-profile republican attacks, including the bombing of an RUC barracks, the kidnapping of a DUP staffer, and the attempted assassination of a British Army Colonel. Following the Good Friday Agreement, she disappeared for a while before resuming lone-wolf attacks in the 2000s.
Her archenemy is The South Armagh Slayer, although she has no special hatred for him since they share similar origins, and she views him as a fellow victim of British betrayal of the Irish.
