~ Chrysanthinum |
Appearance[]
Chrysanthinum is made of porcelain, with pale skin and a sparkling blue ballerina costume, that has gold trim around the top of the corset piece. Her hair is warm brown, and her headband is the same blue as her outfit. She has no facial features other than a nose. The music box she rests on is a light, shimmery pink with a silver key for winding it up.
Origin/Backstory[]
Chrysanthinums creator gently, but securely, fixed the porcelain look-alike of their daughter onto the top of the music box that they had constructed. Their daughter had passed away peacefully in her sleep months ago, causes unknown. The creator decided to create a music box with a porcelain ballerina in their daughter's likeness, to remember her by, and her love of dancing. Chrysanthinum was the name of the creator's daughter, so they named the doll after her daughter, carefully inscribing the name just below the key for the box in gold lettering.
Her daughter had always loved the colour blue and always wanted to be a professional ballerina when she grew older. Sadly, that never happened. The only way the creator's daughter would ever be able to live her dream, they thought, was through the music box doll. That was truer than they ever imagined, as, during the night after they had gone to bed, the spirit of the daughter entered the doll making it come alive.
She couldn't move her limbs, but she could spin. She could turn the key and wind herself up, and her song would begin to play. Her song, the one her parents always sang to her before she went to sleep. The sound of her lullaby filled her porcelain ears, and even though she couldn't see, she could still picture in her mind the bed she used to lay in as her parents sat either side, their soft melody lulling her to sleep. She could feel her mother gently kissing her forehead and whispering sweet dreams to her. She could hear the door close as her parents crept out of her room so as not to wake her. Her childhood memories flooded her as her lullaby rang gently in her tiny ears.
The creator rushed into their study room, eyes wide. The doll was moving. By itself. The song that they had sung so many times to their daughter echoed melodiously through the room, as they stared in shock. It was the spirit of their daughter, they were almost certain. The spirit of Chrysanthinum was one with the fragile porcelain likeness of her. Their daughter was still with them. She had truly become a real dancer, albeit in a messed up way. They could live the rest of their life knowing that their daughter would always be with them.
And so they did.
Years after the creator had passed away, Chrysanthinum sat on the self of an antique store, bored. She wanted a friend, someone to play her lullaby to, someone to sing with. She sat there for weeks until a small girl, who looked to be around nine or ten, came along and saw her. The girl's eyes lit up and she excitedly pointed out Chrysanthinum to her mother, who was with her. The mother of the child walked over and picked Chrysanthinum up and looked at her carefully. The daughter's eyes were wide and pleading, and the mother caved. She gently handed Chrysanthinum to the girl, and the girl held her very gently in her arms.
After the girl and her mother went home, the girl carefully walked to her room and set Chrysanthinum on the top of her set of drawers. "Hello..." the girl said softly. "My name is Opal. What's your name?"
"Hello Opal, I'm Chrysanthinum...."
Personality[]
When she was alive, Chrysanthinum was a calm and serene person, always thinking before she spoke, and never lying about things. She was always very vocal and loved creating and singing tunes to her parents. She loved dancing, and took ballet lessons. Her personality is still rather the same as a doll. She loves talking to the children that come into possession of her and knows that their parents usually don't believe them when they say she can talk. She loves teaching the children to sing and to dance.
Facts[]
- Chrysanthinum was created by Oddyxi
- She stands at 19cm tall.
- She was 17 when she died in her sleep of unknown, but presumed natural causes
- The first person to own her after her creator/parent died was Opal.
- She is always sad when her owners give her away, or when the children get older and pass her off as just an imaginary friend.
- The one time that someone dropped her, she lost her temper and lashed out at them for nearly breaking her. That person ended up giving her to a church to try and 'remove the demon from inside the music box' after she sent knives and glass hurtling at them in pure rage. The person was not hurt that badly, but ended up taking therapy after gaining a fear of porcelain dolls
- Her favorite owner was Alyssa Marshall, who kept Chrysanthinum until her death and always knew that she wasn't just a child fantasy.
- She loves the smell of lemons and limes.
- Her face was never finished, as her spirit had already entered the porcelain and her creator didn't want to hurt her.
- There have been times when she has freaked out parents of children by moving herself into their rooms and winding herself up while they sleep, only to wake them up. She only does this for children who have abusive parents, however, as she doesn't like to hurt people.
