Backstory[]
Rebecca Shern was born on the 11th of June, 1992. She had a happy enough childhood with a loving family. Now, it's the year 2017 (age 25). She had moved out into a nice home. She is now a single mum (if you want her in a relationship, please comment) of two and is happy the way her life is.
One day when her kids were at school, she decided to go and visit the remains of Chernobyl's nuclear disaster. She was given a radioactive meter (whatever they're called) and was told to not cross over the boundaries for her own safety.
However, her curiosity got the better of her. She was strolling on the designated path, until she spotted a pink heart-shaped pendant inside of a frame of metal. Her meter beeps repeatedly. Looking around to check if anyone was watching, she stepped over the path's edge.
The meter beeped faster.
Still Rebecca didn't listen to the meter 's warning, and still it quickly beeped. Her outstretched hand slithered closer to the dangerous pendant, before her fist closed over the gem.
The meter was shouting at her now. And it was only then did she realise what she'd done. She had went out of bounds. She had picked up a highly radioactive item. She had ignored the meter.
She was hesitating now. Should she put it back? Or should she take it with her? Rebecca glanced at the pendant, the pink gem winking at her, as if it were telling her to follow her heart. And that's exactly what she did. She stuffed it in her pocket and left the site whistling.
As soon as she arrived in the safety of her house, she clipped the pendant on around her neck. The silver chain glinted in the warm light, the gem twinkling, the rim of the gem shining. Rebecca grown fond of the piece of jewellery and vowed right there and then not to take it off ever.
She made sure the pendant was bouncing around her chest before leaving the house to pick up Sienna and Milron. Milron came out first, and noticed the pretty necklace around his mother's neck.
"Wow Mammy! That's such a cool necklace!" He exclaimed in joy, his hand drifting in an attempt to touch the radioactive gem. Rebecca pushed her son's hand away, just in case.
"Don't touch, Milron. It's Mammy's special necklace." She said gently.
Soon after, Sienna came out. The ten-year-old eyed the necklace before greeting: "Mam, where did you get that from?"
"Oi, cheeky! I bought it today, in a charity shop. Have you got a problem with that, missy?" Rebecca chuckled, pinching her daughter's cheek affectionately. Sienna bit her lip, but didn't say more.
Thankfully, Milron changed the subject. "Mam? Can we go get some sweets before we go home? After all, I've been a very good boy today! I painted a flower all by myself and didn't pull Danielle's hair or spilled sand everywhere. So I think I deserve a packet of haribos for my hard work, don't you think, Sienna?"
Rebecca chuckled at her six-year-old's weird speech. "Milron, one day isn't good enough, babe. Tell you what, if you don't do anything bad for a week, we'll get your haribos next Saturday, okay? How does that sound?"
Milron pouted. "Fine. Only for the haribos."

Soon, it was time for the children's bedtime. Rebecca tucked each one up and shared the routinely kiss and cwtch*. Then she sat in bed reading her murder mystery book before she turned out the lights. In the moonlight streaming from her window, the pendant twinkled.

The next morning was very tragic and uncomfortable. As soon as Rebecca 's eyelids snapped open, she could sense something was wrong with her body. She felt uncomfortable in some places, such as her right thigh, left rib and under her right armpit. She also noticed her sight was better than yesterday.
She blinked at the sun's rays. Her two normal eyes blinked in unison, but half a second later she felt another blink, and again another. Something was wrong. She went to get out of bed, and found it difficult. Looking down, she screamed. Under her armpit was another arm. Protruding out the side of her ribcage was yet another fully developed arm. Coming out of her thigh was a leg, complete with a foot and five toes.
Rebecca ran to her mirror and stared at the horrid image reflecting back at her with four eyes. She was horrified. Suddenly the door burst open, and Sienna stood gaping at her mother. She screamed and ran out of the room. Milron came in straight after, wondering what was going on. As soon as he saw his mutated mother, he gasped,
"Is that your new Halloween costume, Mam?"
Rebecca was just too horrified to speak. After five minutes, she came to her senses and gathered her children.
Milron stared intently while his sister shook with fear, having been coaxed into the room. Rebecca took a deep breath.
"Kids," she started. "Th- there's something I need to tell you. The pendant- I took it from the nuclear disaster site. I liked it and I wanted to keep it."
Both children knew about the story of the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear disaster, and Sienna managed to stammer, "S-so y-you lied to u-us?"
"Dear, it was for the best. I didn't want you banging on at me." Rebecca replied, attempting to hug her daughter, but Sienna squealed like a pig. Rebecca retreated sadly.
However, Milron didn't see his mother's transformation as a curse; he thought it was seriously cool of his mother to sprout a new leg and set of arms.
"Mam, this is great! Now you can cook three meals at once now!" He babbled excitedly, dancing around the bedroom.
"Please, Milron - Sienna, darling. I didn't know about this mutation. I'm still me, and I won't let anything happen-"
"Oh yeah?" Sienna shouted. "And what will happen to us, Mam? What if me and Milron... mutate into... alien monsters as well?! I bet you wouldn't care!"
"Sienna, I do care, and you know it. If it happens, well..." Rebecca's sentence trailed off. What would happen if her beloved children mutated like her? What about school and work?
*****
She had sorted it. While her children were at school, she would roam the house freely, but when they were home she wore a mask and got the children to wear gas masks. She also avoided being in the same room as Sienna and Milron if they were eating or sleeping. As for work, she contacted her boss to say she could no longer work due to an accident.
With Rebecca being unemployed, the family were struggling. Rebecca had started growing ill from her extra limbs and eyes. She was constantly sick and didn't eat anything. Sienna tried to cook her sick mother food, but Rebecca wouldn't eat it.
"Have we got any raw meat, darling?" She asked Sienna, who was attempting to get her mother to eat.
"Um, yes we do. Would you like me to cook the steak we've got?"
"Could you let it defrost first, babe? And then when it is, could you be a good girl and bring it in here please?" Rebecca groaned.
Confused, Sienna did as she was told. She was terrified to see her mother's need for the meat, as Rebecca quickly wolfed down the entire leg of uncooked steak.
"Mam? What are you doing?"
Between mouthfuls, Rebecca replied, "Need it. For...mm...sickness."
Sienna was disgusted. She noticed the nearly every night her mom would go out late to 'hunt'. Sienna was worried they might get caught by the police, but after being tucked up and hearing the front door close quietly, she pursued her mother.
She followed Rebecca down a dark alley where Rebecca approached a homeless man in his late fifties. In her hand, Sienna saw a glint of the kitchen knife she recognised as the chef knife Rebecca uses frequently. With one quick swipe, the man's head slapped the floor, and Rebecca started her feast. Sienna was once again horrified and disgusted by her mother's antics, and she gasped out of instinct.
Hearing the noise, Rebecca whipped around and saw her daughter's terrified eyes stare straight back into hers. Blood dripping from her mouth with a heart inside her hand, Rebecca whispered, "I'm sorry."
Appearance[]
Before her mutation, she had long black hair with one yellow streak tied up in a high ponytail. She wore blue leggings and a yellow t-shirt along with black trainers.
After her mutation, she still has her hair in the same way described above, but her clothes differ from their 'before' counterparts. This time, Chernecca wears a black t-shirt with the radioactive symbol on the front. Some of her shirt is ripped because of her two extra arms. She wears black knee-length shorts, with a side torn due to her extra leg. She wears black boots, and a white sock with orange accents on her new leg. She wears the pendant that caused her mutation around her neck.
Personality[]
Before her mutation, Rebecca was respectful but curious. She always asked questions and liked to help in any way she could. She was always kind and still is sweet to her children and would protect them at any cost. Her new body is a good advantage for this as people get scared if they see a mutated person.
After her mutation, she still adores her kids, but to others she seems to be drifting from them and mumbles whenever asked a difficult or private question. If need be, she can be very aggressive if her family is provoked, and is wary of strangers.
