This category is for characters whose mental health condition or psychological difficulty is portrayed as significantly impairing or severe, often to the extent that it affects their day-to-day life and contributes to instability, aggression or to serve a role as an antagonist or threat within the narrative.
Characters in this category may or may not have a formal diagnosis mentioned. But, they demonstrate clear and persistent signs commonly associated with clinical mental health conditions, like those found in Cluster A, B, or C personality disorders, or neurological/medical conditions that could impact one's cognition, emotion, or behavior.
This tag is not intended for labelling all characters who happen to have a diagnosis or mental health trait. Instead, it is used informally to describe characters whose psychological state is portrayed as severely disruptive or dangerous, especially when it plays a key role in their narrative.
Associated categories may include:[]
- Characters with Sociopathic Tendencies
- Characters with Psychopathic Tendencies
- Other disorder-specific or behavioral categories where relevant
⚠️ Additional Note ⚠️:[]
Having a mental illness does not inherently make a person dangerous or villainous. This label is merely for fictional portrayals for a character’s condition contributing significantly to their threatening or unstable role. As a result, it should be used carefully to avoid reinforcing stereotypes for mental health conditions and such.
