Adoption (For Characters/Stories)

This page is dedicated to explaining the guidelines/rules behind the adoption-process. 

Guidelines

For a Creepypasta character/story to be a candidate for adoption, it must follow at least one of the following:

• The creator's approval towards the adoption process via an adoption-request on their Message Wall.

• An adoption-request has not be responded to for the past 3 months with staff approval.

• The creation is marked for deletion after the given time period of 2 weeks (the usual duration of time spent for improvements) if no signs for improvements have been found along with staff approval.

Rules

• You cannot force the creator into giving up their creation towards you for any reason, this is only for if the creator has accepted the offer or staff themselves have approved of the request after the recommended period of time.

• If the creation adopted is still lacking improvements (as seen by the staff members of the wiki), it will be marked for review/deletion. This does mean after the 2 week improvement period that the creation will most likely be deleted and the cool-down for requests (listed below) will still apply given the timing spent in the accepted request.

• If a user is attempting to adopt a staff member's creation, a possible vote will happen to determine the ownership of the creation. However, the same rules apply for staff member’ creations as well.

• Members wishing to adopt a character/story will have to leave a message on the original creator's wall. If the response has not been responded to after 3 months, please message a staff member's wall with a similar message.

• Adoption requests have a cool-down period of 3-4 weeks (around about a month) if they do fail or are responded to by the creator or staff themselves. This is to prevent requests piling up on a creation.

• All adoption requests (if fulfilled by staff approval or the creator themselves) need to credit the original author of the creation along with the category “Adoption” and a notice explaining the transfer from and to at the top/bottom of the page. Unless the creator themselves have stated in the message approval that they wish not to be labelled with said creation anymore, please remember to give the appropriate credit to them for the original Creepypasta page.

The original creator [insert original creator’s username] has since transferred the rights to the creation over to [insert new creator’s username] or staff members from the site have approved themselves the adoption request after 3 months.

Credit to the original user for the original character/story is given by this notice.

WARNING - Not all creations listed under Marked For Deletion may be ready to become candidates for the process. For user safety and privacy to keeping ownership if they wish, always remember to send a message and wait the appropriate time listed above. If you have any issues with said message, please contact a staff member and await a response. If the creator has denied the adoption request, this does not disable you from making minor grammatical/spelling edits to the page instead, this merely disables your wish to fully re-construct the character/story in your own favor how you see fit.
