I've got a feeling if you're only considering the hype because it's randomly getting fanart/ships, it's not a grand start. I mean, I saw one piece of fanart beforehand and it was just a doodle on a skateboard labelled "Bloodshot Travis" meant to replace the actual image on the fact-file page. So, technically not fanart, just some troll art in my view.
Don't get me wrong, it seems pretty great in itself to get attention in general. But, you were advertising it on a near weekly/daily basis. Hell, your profile has the link to the page. So, if people are making fanart/ships, take it as "at least some people seem interested in it". Not a good or bad thing yet.
Plus, it really depends on the ships and fanart produced. Like I said before, one was quite literally a troll taking the mick. Never heard of any ships until now since the page only has two comments and nowhere on the page is there mentions of ships.
